The Best Selection of Ski & Snowboard Clothing
The technical gear you need for your alpine adventures doesn't always attach to your feet. You go
skiing or boarding to have fun, and nothing ruins a good time like being cold and wet. So we're here
to make sure you get set up with the latest outerwear to keep you warm and dry, not to mention
looking great.
A layered approach is your best bet to make sure you are prepared for the variable conditions you
may encounter. Start with a warm, waterproof jacket or hard shell. Modern insulating materials such
as Primaloft, Thermolite and Thinsulate are perfect for creating light weight, easy-to-wear jackets
built to keep you warm on even the coldest days.
You have lots of choices this year with features like sealed seams to lock out moisture, high-tech insulation,
zip-off hoods, powder skirts, breathable fabrics, and plenty of storage space.
For your ski pants, you will want many of same properties as in your jacket – flexibility for
easy movement, breathable fabrics for comfort and snow-proof construction. Also look for reinforced
fabrics and padding where it counts, around the knees, cuffs and backside.
Your jacket or hard shell may come with an integrated soft shell or mid layer for insulation. If not,
choose one that is comfortable and that allows unrestricted movement within your hard shell. Since this
soft shell may be all you need on a spring day, look for wind resistant, moisture-wicking fabrics that
close securely at the wrist and collar.
Finally, don't overlook head protection. Investing in a helmet not only makes skiing safer, it also is
a smart way to conserve warmth, too. There are many new lightweight models with improved ventilation for
added comfort. Some helmets even have built in audio systems so you can groove as you schuss down
the slopes.
